Paul Kimball - Clarkson Town Supervisor
Paul and his wife Sue reside at 3613 Redman Rd. Together they have four children (three of which are married) and two grandchildren. Paul worked for 32 years for RG&E. He started his career as a meter reader, holding various positions before retiring in 2007 as Director of Inside Sales and Service. Since 2008, Paul has been General Manager of Rochester District Heating Cooperative. Sue has been an RN at Lakeside Hospital since 1975, specializing in OB/GYN.
Paul’s interest in local politics goes back to the 1960’s when he worked at his father’s diner. Harry’s Diner was located in the current Clarkson Post Office next to the Town Hall. Paul joined the Clarkson Republican Committee in 1979. He was first elected as a councilman in 1981 and two years later to the office of Town Supervisor.
Under Paul’s leadership, the town tax rate has dropped from one of the highest in the county to the 8th lowest of 19 towns. The current 2009 property tax rate is lower than 1990, without adjusting for inflation. During this time the town has seen numerous improvements, including a new highway garage, fire hall, library, sidewalks, park development, and making public water and sewers available to many residents.
Paul has been a leader in working with other communities. This has led to the building of the new Seymour Library in 1995, as well as the Town of Clarkson joining with Sweden in the new Community Center and the existing Senior Center.
Paul has also been actively involved in his community. He was a youth soccer coach, Boy Scouts of America WEBELOS leader and Scoutmaster of Troop 85. He has been chairman of Clarkson Good Neighbors Days for the last 10 years as well as overseeing many other community events, such as the annual town children’s Christmas Party.
